In Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, Barcelona's quiet uptown neighbourhood, Isabella's House sits directly above Isabella's, the Italian restaurant the family has run since 2010, where handmade stuffed pasta is made in an in-house atelier and the kitchen stays open from one in the afternoon until one in the morning. The building holds 24 individually decorated apartments and suites across six floors, several over 50 square metres, each built for up to four people with a private terrace or balcony and a fully equipped kitchen with fridge, tea and coffee facilities, plus a 43-inch flat-screen television and a private bathroom with a deep soaking tub and bidet. It suits a couple or family staying long enough to want a kitchen of their own, a terrace instead of a balcony rail, and a neighbourhood quiet enough to sleep in. It does not suit anyone wanting to walk to Casa Batllo or Passeig de Gracia: this is a residential street near La Bonanova metro station, a short drive rather than a stroll from the centre's landmarks. Dogs travel here with a 40-euro deposit per stay, and the apartments' private terraces give them more room than most Barcelona hotels their size allow. Families get a playroom, the desk arranges excursions, and staff work in English and Spanish. There's a lift to all six floors, a safe in every room, and laundry and dry cleaning if the trip runs long. Check-in runs from 3pm, check-out by noon. What sets the place apart from other serviced apartments nearby is that restaurant downstairs, still family-run since 2010, still making its own pasta by hand.
