This isn't just a hotel: it's Argentine hotelier Alan Faena's full-throttle vision of what Miami Beach could be if it leaned harder into pure theatricality. The entire compound (hotel, residences, theater, bazaar) occupies six beachfront blocks in Mid-Beach, that sweet spot between South Beach's chaos and Bal Harbour's country club vibes. Inside, maximalism reigns: gilt everything, red velvet, unicorn sculptures, a Damien Hirst woolly mammoth skeleton in the lobby. It's a lot, but that's the point. Director Baz Luhrmann consulted on the design, which tells you everything about the aesthetic. You'll either find it intoxicating or exhausting. There's no middle ground. The rooms continue the drama with floor-to-ceiling ocean views, freestanding tubs, and that same gold-and-crimson palette. Spring for an oceanfront suite if you're committing to the fantasy. The beach service is impeccable, though you'll be watching performances and tango demonstrations by the pool as often as you're in the water. Los Fuegos, their signature restaurant, does live-fire Argentine cuisine that's genuinely excellent, not just hotel-restaurant good. Chef Francis Mallmann knows his way around a parrilla. The bar scene at Pao draws a crowd that looks like they're always about to close a deal or start a feud. This is Miami at its most unabashed. If you want understated elegance, look elsewhere. If you want to feel like you've walked onto a stage set where every guest is both performer and audience, book here. The service matches the ambition: attentive without being stuffy, which isn't easy to pull off at this level of spectacle.
