THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Six Senses Zighy Bay Resort
Six Senses Zighy Bay asks for paperwork before it asks for a credit card: a border pass, submitted four days ahead of arrival, without which the two-hour drive from Dubai stops cold at the Dibba checkpoint into Oman. There is no taxi option either; guests are met and briefed on the crossing in advance. That friction is the point. The resort sits in its own bay, with 82 rooms and villas built in 2007. Standard villas come with private pools and beachfront patios; retreat rooms add a separate sofa area for extra space. Days run toward the water: diving, snorkelling, fishing and hiking are all organised on site, and a private beach means none of it involves sharing sand with a public crowd. The spa runs to a sauna and steam room alongside massage, useful after a day spent diving or hiking. Couples booking a shared room need a marriage certificate at check-in, worth knowing before you pack. Families get a kids club open Fridays through Sundays and a teens club daily, though paragliding and ultralight flights are grounded until September 15, and the Earth Lab stays closed for renovation until October 1. None of this suits anyone wanting a same-day booking or a lobby you can walk into from a cab. It suits divers, hikers and couples with the right documents who don't mind the drive being part of the arrival, not an obstacle to it. Six Senses Zighy Bay requires a border pass and four days' notice to reach it, then delivers private-pool villas, a private beach and diving off the sand. Paragliding is grounded until September 15 and couples sharing a room need a marriage certificate at check-in.
