THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Sharq Village & Spa By Ritz Carlton
Two floors, spread across Doha's historic district: Sharq Village & Spa was built in 2007 to resemble a Sheikh's palace rather than the glass towers nearby, and at 174 rooms it reads more like a village than a hotel. Balconies open onto the water, three outdoor pools and a private beach fill the grounds, and the property sits close enough to the National Museum of Qatar and Souq Waqif to reach on foot, with the Museum of Islamic Art, Qatar National Library and MIA Park a short drive further. This suits people who want a resort that behaves like a neighborhood: mornings at one of seven restaurants, evenings at Iris Doha, the beachfront lounge with ocean views, afternoons at The Ritz-Carlton Spa or the Ritz Kids program if children are along. It suits less well anyone chasing a skyline view or a downtown pulse, since the low-rise layout trades height for grounds you walk across. One detail worth knowing before booking: Qatar policy requires couples sharing a room to present a valid marriage certificate at check-in, or the hotel may ask for a second room instead. What sets the property apart from other Doha hotels is a rare mark most competitors haven't collected: a One MICHELIN Key, awarded in 2025. Rooms run large by regional standards, with suites topping 1,100 square feet, and the hotel takes weddings seriously enough to have built dedicated garden and beachfront ceremony spaces alongside its meeting rooms. Check-in is from three in the afternoon, checkout at noon, and an airport shuttle runs on request for a surcharge. It reads less like a hotel chasing modernity and more like it's certain of its own history. A low-rise, two-storey resort built to resemble a Sheikh's palace, with a private beach, three pools and seven restaurants in Doha's historic district. It earned a MICHELIN Key in 2025, a distinction rare among the city's hotels. Couples sharing a room need a marriage certificate at check-in.

The hotel's marbled halls and courtyards were carefully designed to emulate an elegantly appointed Sheikh's palace, giving the resort a traditional, romantic character distinct from typical high-rise hotels in Doha. The design draws on Qatari heritage while housing modern resort amenities throughout the low-rise property.
