THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The Queensberry Hotel
The Queensberry occupies a Georgian townhouse a short walk from the centre of Bath, near St. Mary the Virgin and the Temple Precinct, with a quiet courtyard garden behind its historic front. Twenty-nine rooms spread across three floors keep the place small and personal rather than sprawling, and downstairs the Olive Tree restaurant has held a Michelin star since 2018 and four AA rosettes, the only kitchen of that standing in the city. Since autumn 2024 the hotel itself has carried a Michelin Key, putting it among just 72 properties across the UK and Ireland with that distinction, and that is the detail few of Bath's other boutique addresses can match. Rooms range from compact singles to the far larger Junior Queen Suite, each with a flat-screen TV, bathrobe and its own bathroom, so a couple travelling light will feel more at home than a family wanting to spread out, even though there is a playroom and babysitting for those who bring children. Anyone travelling with a dog should book elsewhere, since pets aren't allowed. The Old Q Bar, small and slightly hidden, rewards guests who like their cocktails without a crowd. Staff speak English, French, German, Italian, Polish and Spanish, and the hotel holds Green Tourism certification for its energy and water practices. Check-in runs from 3:30pm, checkout by 11:30am, and an extra bed costs 35 pounds a night if the room allows it. This suits people who plan a trip around one meal worth remembering, not those chasing resort scale or wanting to be in the thick of the tourist crowds a kilometre away. The Olive Tree is the reason to book, not an afterthought. A 29-room Georgian townhouse a kilometre from central Bath, home to the Olive Tree, the city's only Michelin Star restaurant, and one of just 72 UK and Ireland hotels holding a Michelin Key since 2024. Rooms are compact, pets aren't welcome, and the Old Q Bar is tiny.
