THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Gallivant Hotel
The Gallivant sits a kilometre from Camber's centre, close enough to the dunes that windsurfing and fishing show up on the amenities list rather than as tourist-board flourishes. Ten rooms only, which means the front desk knows your name by the second morning and the garden doesn't feel crowded even in August. Membership in Small Luxury Hotels of the World is not something many ten-room properties on this stretch of the Sussex coast can claim, and it shows in details that matter: a spa room and massage treatments, a proper restaurant and bar rather than a snack counter, free parking so you're not circling for a space after the drive down from London. Families get a playroom for the children, dogs get an actual welcome instead of a grudging exception, and the elevator and accessibility features mean the building doesn't punish anyone for its age. Golf within three kilometres and hiking routes nearby give the sporty something to do beyond the beach itself. This is not a place for anyone chasing nightlife or room service at 3am; there's no mention of either, and the ten-room scale suggests early closing rather than late openings. But for a couple wanting a weekend that starts with sand in their shoes and ends with a massage booked for the last afternoon, or a small group happy to share a garden and a bar rather than a resort's worth of pools, it does the job with more polish than its size would suggest. Camber Sands is the draw; the Gallivant is the reason to stay overnight instead of driving back. Ten rooms, a Small Luxury Hotels of the World badge, and Camber Sands a short walk away: the Gallivant trades scale for attention, with a spa, garden, restaurant and a playroom for kids who'd rather stay than drive home. Not for anyone chasing nightlife.

THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT

Your taste already has an address

Maintained by the hotel's gardener, the coastal garden threads salt-tolerant planting and daisy-lined paths around the property, opening onto secluded terraces with teak seating. It offers a quiet retreat between beach walks and doubles as a backdrop for outdoor moments away from the dining room and guest rooms.
The property has a lift/elevator for accessibility.
