Fifteen rooms in a converted five-story townhouse on Via Urbana, Monti, Rome's only neighborhood that manages to be both trendy and genuinely residential. Opened 2015 in a renovated townhouse with original stucco details, mid-century modern furniture, and a color palette of slate blue and charcoal grey. A 10-minute walk to the Roman Forum, 4 minutes to Cavour Metro, but the real advantage is being embedded in Monti's cobblestone streets where Romans actually live and the morning light hits terracotta rooftops. All rooms have views of either the leafy interior courtyard or Rome's layered rooftops. Malin+Goetz toiletries, terracotta bathrooms with walk-in rainfall showers, some with exposed brick ceilings and art deco mirrors, some with private balconies perfect for morning espresso. The top-floor Master Grey Suite has oak floors, a velvet sofa, and two rooms both opening to a balcony overlooking rooftops, and worth the upgrade for a night or two. The hotel doesn’t have a restaurant, but Chef Lonella serves the breakfast and it's substantially better than the standard Italian hotel spread. Everything's made in-house, from signature cakes, fresh granola, focaccia to seasonal fruit. Nicely served in the sun-drenched courtyard when weather permits. Staff leave personalized recommendation cards at your table each morning (weather, exhibitions, restaurant bookings). Afternoon ginger-lemon tea service runs daily. Extra courtesies are 24-hour bar in moody blue tones, daily manager's reception on the garden terrace, and a welcome bottle of wine on arrival
