This is a hotel where fashionista meets foodie meets free spirit. The Standard's first European outpost transforms a 1974 former Camden Town Hall Annexe into 266 rooms of unapologetic decadence, where London Underground seat-cover patterns inform the color scheme and a bright red external capsule lift shoots guests up to Decimo—Michelin-starred chef Peter Sanchez-Iglesias's 10th-floor Spanish-Mexican restaurant with floor-to-ceiling panoramic views. Designer Shawn Hausman (the Chateau Marmont visionary) has gone full 1970s fantasy: rattan ceilings, macramé curtains from Peru, velvet everything, and bathrooms that look like they belong in a particularly well-appointed disco. The ground-floor Library Lounge pays homage to the building's former life, with vintage titles sourced from London libraries and the Sounds Studio (a glass-enclosed recording booth where DJs, podcasters, and musicians lay down tracks while hotel guests watch). Double Standard serves American comfort food and bottomless brunch, while the 11th-floor Rooftop (open summers) sprawls across AstroTurf with cocktails and London skyline views. Across the street from St Pancras International, you're two minutes from the Eurostar and 15 minutes by tube from Soho. This is maximalism done properly.
