New Hotel sits in a Beaux Arts building minutes from Syntagma Square, close enough to the Temple of Olympian Zeus and the Athens National Garden that the surrounding streets make for an easy walk before check-in. What separates it from other central Athens properties is the interior: Fernando and Humberto Campana, the acclaimed design duo, built their debut hotel project here, working themes like Karagiozis shadow theatre, the evil eye and old Athens postcards into 79 individually decorated rooms spread across seven floors. The art carries past the guestroom door into a rooftop art lounge, currently showing a 2025 collection by Maria Papadimitriou, so a coffee up there comes with something worth looking at twice. Rooms hold plasma televisions, minibars, iPod docking stations, rainfall showers and designer toiletries, and are soundproofed against the traffic below. Downstairs, New Taste restaurant serves Mediterranean food from the same design hand, the bar runs into the evening, and cooked-to-order breakfast is available daily for a fee. A spa with steam room, massage and body treatments sits next to a fitness centre and bicycle rentals for anyone who would rather see the National Garden on two wheels. Business travelers get a 24-hour business centre and complimentary wired internet on top of the Wi-Fi; parents should note extra beds run 50 euros a night and pets cost 50 euros per stay. Parking is off-site and charged at 40 euros a day. None of this reads like a standard chain property; it reads like a private gallery that happens to let guests sleep in it.
