THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Hotel Trinserhof
In Trins, tucked into the Gschnitztal valley under the Tyrolean Alps, the Trinserhof has belonged to the same family for close to a hundred years, and four generations of Covis, Harry, Jenn, Jess and Dana, still run the house, the garden and the kitchen together. The building carries its age openly: old wood floors, patina, and the kind of stories a place only collects by staying put, which is why someone eventually wrote a book tracing the family's past, present and future here. It sits in the center of Trins, close enough to walk out in the evening toward Tirol Panorama, the Bergisel ski jump and Wilten Basilica. Back at the hotel there is a bar, a pool and a separate outdoor pool, a sauna, free Wi-Fi, on-site parking, English-speaking staff, and a welcome for dogs. No two rooms match: pick the Suite, the plainer Standard Zimmer, the family room with its double bed and sofa bed, or the Bergsteiger Zimmer, named for the climbers who stay there. Check-in doesn't open until 10pm, which suits people arriving late off a trail or a long drive far more than anyone wanting to drop bags at 2pm and head straight out. This is a house for travellers who want the specific, lived-in weight of one family's history rather than a designed interior, and less of a fit for those chasing glossy interiors or bigger resort amenities. What sets it apart from other options nearby is that continuity itself, the same family, the same table, four generations running the place rather than one owner's renovation story. It's the kind of place you remember by name. A family-run house in Trins that four generations of Covis still keep, right down to the old wood floors and a book about their own history. Rooms range from a plain Standard Zimmer to the Bergsteiger, named for the climbers who fill it. Check-in starts late, at 10pm.
