THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Hotel Casa Morisca
Hotel Casa Morisca sits in Granada's Albaicín, a fifteen-minute walk from Plaza Nueva and the cathedral and a short stroll from the Alhambra itself, close enough that some rooms look directly across at it. The building takes its name from the Moorish houses of the neighbourhood, restored by Granada architect Carlos Sánchez in a project that won the Europa Nostra heritage award in 2001, the year the hotel opened. That combination, a historic Albaicín house with an award to its name and a clear line of sight to the Alhambra, is not something every boutique hotel in the neighbourhood can claim. Fourteen rooms are spread across two floors, and the hotel is adults only, which suits a couple or a solo traveller looking for something small rather than a family travelling with children. Rooms come with minibars, cable TV, down comforters and Egyptian cotton sheets, and staff who move easily between English, Spanish, Russian and French. There is a restaurant, a bar, a cafe, and buffet breakfast served daily for a fee. A massage room and an on-call doctor cover the basics, the front desk can arrange a transfer to the airport for 35 euros each way, and a garage handles guests who arrive by car. Walk out the door and the old streets around Casa Morisca Horno de Oro and the Paseo de los Tristes are right there, no taxi required. The reward for booking a fourteen-room house instead of a larger hotel is waking up with the Alhambra in view. Hotel Casa Morisca occupies an Europa Nostra award-winning restoration in Granada's Albaicín, fourteen rooms across two floors with the Alhambra in view. Adults only, it suits a couple or solo traveller more than a family, with a restaurant, a massage room and staff fluent in four languages.

THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT

Your taste already has an address

Breakfast is served daily in a dedicated salon within the converted Moorish house, part of the property's restaurant and cafe offering. The setting places morning meals inside the same restored architecture that defines the rest of the building, rather than a generic hotel dining room.
Kickstart your day with a hearty breakfast buffet at the hotel's in-house restaurant, café, or bar.
