THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Hotel Le Nessay
Le Nessay sits on the Nessay peninsula in Saint-Briac-sur-Mer, within walking distance of the town centre and three beaches: Plage de la Grande Salinette, Plage du Béchet and Plage de la Petite Salinette. It carries the Small Luxury Hotels of the World designation and keeps to seventeen rooms across a main house and annex, so the sea-facing breakfast room and the spa's massage treatments rarely fill up. The top-floor Nessay Suite makes the strongest case for staying here: a private 40-square-metre rooftop terrace with a 180-degree view of the Emerald Coast, a round bed built into the turret facing the Ebihens island, a clawfoot bathtub set in the middle of the room, and a separate turret shower facing Cape Fréhel. Dogs and cats travel for a flat 30 euros per stay, an extra bed runs 50 euros a night, and self-parking costs 12 euros a day, details worth knowing before you book. Bike rental and hiking are available for exploring the peninsula, and the restaurant works with seasonal dishes inspired by the sea and Breton produce, with a bar for something slower in the evening. This suits couples and small families who want a coastal base without a resort's scale and who don't mind paying extra for parking or a pet, not those chasing a lobby full of extras. It won't suit anyone wanting a sprawling wellness centre or a packed events calendar; the amenities run to one spa, a restaurant, a bar and a conference hall. What stays with you afterward is the turret window over Cape Fréhel, not a brochure line. A 17-room Small Luxury Hotels of the World property on Saint-Briac-sur-Mer's Nessay peninsula, near three beaches. The top-floor Nessay Suite's private terrace, turret bed and clawfoot bath are the one thing peers here don't have. Good for a quiet coastal stay, not for nightlife or a big spa.
