Hotel WIESERGUT sits on a meadow above Saalbach-Hinterglemm, four kilometres from the village centre, close enough to the Hinterglemm 12er Kogel Gondola and the Funparklift ski lift that skis go on at the door and come off again at the end of the run. Built in 2012, it holds only twenty-four rooms across three floors, small enough that the architecture stays the point rather than becoming a backdrop, and it's that design identity, the thing regular guests mention by name, that sets it apart from the larger slopeside lodges nearby offering the same runs and spas. Rooms run from Standard and Superior double suites to a Deluxe Suite and an Executive Single Suite, most around 484 to 592 square feet with mountain or quiet-side views, private bathrooms, safes and proper toiletries rather than an afterthought bar of soap. Winter guests get ski storage, a ski shuttle and ski passes arranged on site; summer brings free bicycle rental, hiking routes from the door and a library and picnic area for the days no one wants to move fast. There's a pool, a sauna, a steam room and massage treatments, plus a fitness room for anyone who came to train rather than recover. The restaurant and bar handle meals, with a diet menu on request and breakfast available in the room for the mornings that call for staying under the duvet. Dogs are welcome for a daily supplement, and the playroom means this works for a family ski week as easily as for two people planning to disappear into the sauna. Anyone wanting a big lobby or a full-service resort scale should look elsewhere; this build trades scale for restraint.
