THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Erema, a Member of Design Hotels
Morning here starts with a swim before breakfast, the light moving slowly across a private terrace while the Aegean changes color below Cape Chalaka, on Milos's southeastern coast. Erema, a Member of Design Hotels, sits away from the island's villages, about seven kilometers from Milos Airport and eleven from Adamas Port, closer to open coastline than a walkable town center. Its clearest advantage over comparable island stays is structural: each of the 41 suites has its own private pool and uninterrupted sea views, built within stone walls and curved forms designed by Aristides Dallas Architects and Micromega, with interiors by Athens-based ID Laboratorium and bathrooms clad in Naxian marble. Culinary Director Yiannis Kioroglou oversees two restaurants, Halaka, set above the infinity pool, and Akiton, plus Circe Bar and Akiton Bar, all working from a Medite-Grecian menu built on seasonal, local ingredients. Guests also have a spa, a gym, a public beach with shuttle access, and a conference hall for those combining work with the view, and the property is pursuing LEED Gold certification, a step beyond what most boutique hotels bother with. This suits travelers who want days shaped by light, water and stillness rather than nightlife or a strip of restaurants outside the door, and who don't mind arranging a car or transfer to reach Plaka or Sarakiniko. It will frustrate anyone expecting to walk into town for dinner. Check-in runs from 3pm, checkout by 11am, and an extra bed costs 50 euros a night, with pets welcome throughout. What stays with you afterward isn't the design vocabulary so much as the quiet: the sense that removal from things was the point. On Milos's remote southeastern coast, each of Erema's 41 suites has its own private pool and unbroken sea views, a rarity among design hotels. Two restaurants, a spa, and a pursuit of LEED Gold certification round out the stay, best suited to quiet mornings over nightlife.

Your taste already has an address

Each of Eréma's 41 suites, including Drift, opens onto a private terrace with its own pool, sunbeds and open-air dining, set against uninterrupted views of the Aegean. Rather than relying on shared facilities, guests move between sea, sky and their own pool throughout the day, a signature feature that defines the property's sense of openness.
