Inside, the seventy-two rooms, redone in white, blue and mint green by designer Dorothée Meilichzon, split between two views: the ocean or the fairways of Golf de Biarritz - Le Phare, one of Europe's more storied courses. That split matters, because this is as much a golf hotel as a beach one, and travelers should pick a room accordingly. Chef Gregory Marchand, who built Frenchie into a name in Paris, London and Verbier, runs the seaside restaurant here, turning out Basque-inflected versions of his usual repertoire, alfresco when the weather allows. The spa works with Susanne Kaufmann's alpine-derived formulas across three treatment rooms, two built for couples, plus a hammam and Biologique Recherche facials, quieter departures from the usual hotel-spa menu. There's an indoor pool for year-round swimming and a heated outdoor one that closes from November to April, so anyone counting on outdoor laps in winter needs the indoor option instead. Bikes, diving, tennis, archery and horse riding are all arranged through the hotel, useful for longer stays that stretch past the spa and restaurant. Meeting space is modest, about one hundred square meters, so this suits weekend planning sessions more than full conferences. Pets under five kilos travel for a surcharge. Staff move between English, French, Spanish, Italian, German and Turkish without missing a beat, and check-in doesn't rush past three in the afternoon. What lingers is the choice at booking, ocean or fairway, and neither one splits the difference. On a Biarritz clifftop, the Regina Experimental splits its seventy-two rooms between ocean and golf-course views, with chef Gregory Marchand's Frenchie serving seaside Basque plates below. The outdoor pool closes from November to April, so this reads better as a golf-and-spa base than a winter swim resort.
