Au Coeur du Village sits at the foot of the slopes in the center of La Clusaz, close enough that guests can step from the lobby onto the pistes, with a ski room off the entrance for rental gear, storage and lift passes. The 54-room hotel, spread across four floors and run under the Relais & Chateaux name, is best known for something the other luxury addresses in the resort can't claim: a restaurant, Le Cin5, that holds a Michelin star, and a place among the first properties anywhere to win a Michelin Key. Suites range from 33-square-meter junior rooms with spa baths and Nespresso machines to a 190-square-meter chalet with its own kitchen and private access to Cristal Spa, so a couple after a quiet weekend and a family of three to five sharing one suite are both catered to. The extra-bed fee runs 140 EUR a night, and with checkout at noon and check-in not until 4pm, this isn't a hotel built around spontaneous plans. Downstairs there's an indoor and outdoor pool, a sauna, a steam room and massage treatments, plus a playroom and babysitting for the children some of those suites are built around. Staff speak English and French as standard, with Turkish also on hand. Pets under 5 kilograms are welcome for a surcharge; anyone with a bigger dog should look elsewhere. It suits skiers who'd rather ski than sightsee, and diners who'd rather stay in for a Michelin-starred table than go looking for one elsewhere in the village.
