THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Domaine de Manville
At the foot of the white cliffs of the Alpilles, Domaine de Manville keeps just 30 rooms across two floors, spread quietly enough that the loudest sound most evenings is cutlery at L'Aupiho, the on-site restaurant that has held a Michelin star since 2018 under chef Lieven van Aken, a rarity for a countryside hotel this size and the thing that sets it apart from the golf-and-spa resorts stacked along this stretch of Provence. Guests split their days between a golf course three kilometres out, a spa that added CACI International's facial technology in 2026, and two pools, one indoor and one open to the Provençal sky. Rooms run from a 269-square-foot Classic King to a 2,368-square-foot Deluxe Villa, plus nine separate maisons for families or groups who want their own front door; a kids' club and playroom mean the villas suit multigenerational trips, while the smaller rooms and the Michelin table pull in couples who came for L'Aupiho and stayed for the quiet. Airport transfer runs 200 euros each way, and pets travel for a 30-euro supplement, so this isn't a hotel built around convenience pricing. It doesn't suit large groups looking for hundreds of rooms or an urban base; this is a 30-room countryside estate outside Les Baux-de-Provence. What it does well is the layering: a working spa, a serious kitchen, a golf course, and grounds large enough that none of it feels stacked on top of the other. Check-in is 3pm, checkout noon, standard for a Small Luxury Hotels of the World property, and the deposit is 200 euros per room per stay. Book here for the food and the quiet, not for proximity to anywhere else. At the foot of the Alpilles' white cliffs, this 30-room estate runs a Michelin-starred restaurant since 2018, a golf course three kilometres out, and a spa that added CACI facial technology in 2026. It suits couples and food-focused travelers more than beach or nightlife seekers.

Beyond its 30 rooms, Domaine de Manville includes nine private villas built for guests seeking a home-like retreat within the estate. Positioned in the wide, quiet landscape at the foot of the Alpilles' white cliffs, the villas are framed by the hotel as a sanctuary for modern souls seeking a return to simplicity.
