Hotel Le Vallon de Valrugues and Spa
Hotel Le Vallon de Valrugues and Spa keeps to two floors and 48 rooms set inside a garden of more than a hectare on the edge of Saint-Remy-de-Provence, close enough to walk to the Musée Jouenne, Bob Appleman's Sculptures and La Folie du Pain. Seven villas with their own heated pools sit apart from the main building, each with a kitchen and dishwasher for guests who'd rather cook a market haul than order it, and pets are welcome throughout. The kitchen worth booking around, though, is Alexandre Fabris's: Michelin-starred since 2019, he runs ORIA, an intimate room open Tuesday to Saturday for dinner, while the daily Bistrot Canto Cigalo covers Provençal and Mediterranean plates for lunch and dinner without the ceremony. The 600-square-metre spa has indoor and outdoor heated pools, eight treatment booths, a jet stream pool, a hammam and a sauna, enough to occupy a full day between meals. A free shuttle runs from seven in the morning to midnight, seven days a week, and breakfast runs from 7:30 to 11 with room service available around the clock for anyone who sleeps past it. This is built for people who plan a trip around a table, couples wanting privacy in a villa rather than a room, and anyone happy with a garden setting minutes from the center rather than inside it. It will frustrate travellers who want to walk out the door straight into town life, or who'd rather one restaurant did double duty than choose between two kitchens. What sets it apart from Provence's country hotels is simple: a Michelin star in a 48-room house, not a resort claiming one by association. A 48-room hotel in Saint-Remy-de-Provence with a Michelin-starred chef, a 600-square-metre spa, and seven villas with private heated pools set through a garden of more than a hectare. Built for travellers who plan trips around meals, not for anyone wanting a single restaurant or a walk-out-the-door town center.

Five minutes from the main hotel, Villa Clémence is a 240-square-metre Provençal mas set in a 3,000-square-metre enclosed garden with a panoramic view of the Alpilles. Its 13x4-metre pool is heated from May to the end of September, and guests receive the same concierge, driver and housekeeping service as the hotel itself.
Complimentary Wi-Fi is available throughout the property.
Pets are welcome for an additional fee.
A children's playroom is on site for younger guests.
Private on-site parking is provided for guests arriving by car.
