Hotel Sainte Victoire has only 15 rooms, more the size of a village house than a hotel chain outpost, and it runs a seasonal outdoor pool with a sun deck for the afternoon, after hiking is done in the morning, the trails are listed right alongside the amenities and the mountain that gave the town its name is outside the door. Dogs travel too, for a fee, which rules out anywhere built around white sofas and hushed lobbies. The restaurant covers breakfast, Wi-Fi is free throughout, and there's a conference hall for the trip that has a working half built in. Staff speak more than one language, check-in can be handled contactlessly, and the building is wheelchair accessible with lift access through to the restaurant. Parking and electric car charging sit on site, useful for anyone who has driven in rather than trained it. This suits someone who wants Provence without the queues, who would rather hike Sainte-Victoire before lunch and swim after than spend the day shopping. It will not suit anyone chasing rooftop bars, late checkout, or a big lobby to be seen in, checkout here is at noon, check-in from three. Fifteen rooms and one pool, but the mountain outside does most of the work anyway.
