THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Nobis Hotel Palma
Nobis Hotel Palma occupies a building whose walls date to the 12th century, when it served as a Muslim palace during the island's medieval Islamic era, and it is that layered history, not a spa menu, that visitors will remember. Tucked into Carrer de les Caputxines in Palma's Old Town, it sits within walking distance of Monestir de la Puríssima Concepció de les Caputxines, Parròquia de Sant Jaume and Cal Comte de San Simón. There are just 37 rooms spread across three floors, each shaped differently by the original architecture, so no two are quite alike; Wingårdhs handled the interiors while Jordi Herrero Arquitectos and Eduardo Garcia Acuna Arquitecto reworked the structure itself. Restaurant NOI serves European cooking with a Mediterranean lean, and Mirall Bar pours cocktails inside the same historic lounge, a space also used for business gatherings, with Gothic details, Carl Hansen chairs, Tacchini's Elefant chair and a Dusty Deco seashell lamp; the adjoining Library opens onto its own small balcony. Guests use the sauna and spa before dinner, work off the flight in the fitness room, or sit under the sun terrace's shaded pergola in the afternoon. Jesus Ubeda, a Les Clefs d'Or concierge, arranges the rest, from artisan visits to dinner bookings. Pets travel for 75 euros a stay, and reduced-mobility guests can ask for a step-free room, since the old palaces of Palma were never built with ramps in mind. This suits someone who wants a small, historic base in Palma's Old Town rather than something sprawling, and anyone travelling with children should know the city tax applies to them too. What it will not offer is anonymity: with only 37 rooms, everyone gets noticed. Behind a 12th-century Old Town facade that once housed a Muslim palace, Nobis Hotel Palma keeps just 37 rooms, a Mediterranean restaurant, a sauna and spa, and a concierge who knows the city's back streets. Pets are welcome for 75 euros per stay, but anonymity is not.
