Anuncivay street was laid out in 1792 and San Fernando ten years later; at their corner, in Mahon's historic Illustrated quarter, Hevresac occupies a seigneurial house from the end of the 18th century with only eight rooms, each behind its own original guillotine window. Guests wake to pine tree ceiling beams, Art Nouveau tiles, stuccos, mosaics and parquet floors rather than a repeated template; the hotel deliberately left out televisions and hands over a tablet instead. Breakfast draws on small local retailers, chosen for being bio, seasonal and fair traded, and the same Biosphere reserve values run through the aerothermy heating and cooling and the refillable filtered water in each room. A vaulted basement seats twenty to twenty five for meetings, and there is a conference hall and business center for anyone combining work with the visit. An elevator reaches the common areas, one ground floor room is set up for reduced mobility, and the restaurant is wheelchair accessible. The library and terrace fill the quieter hours; a concierge handles laundry, dry cleaning and luggage between excursions to Plaza del Carmen, the Fish Market of Mahón or Fortalesa de la Mola, and out toward Es Grau, Son Bou or Cavalleria beaches. Wi-Fi runs on optical fiber and parking nearby is free, though pets are not accepted, which rules out one kind of traveler outright. This suits someone who wants an address with a documented past over a chain lobby and does not mind a small, individual room over a large uniform one. It does not suit anyone bringing a dog, a large group or an expectation of a television.
