THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Bordoy Casa Ladico Hotel Boutique
Morning here starts with coffee at a window that looks straight into the old center of Mahón, the kind of view that doesn't need explaining once you've had it. Bordoy Casa Ládico occupies a building raised from Menorca's local marés stone, a structure tied to the Ládico family, Greek merchants who settled on the island in 1753, and that history shows in details most boutique hotels only gesture at: Farrow & Ball paint, James Malone tapestries, hardwoods paired with contemporary furniture. Fourteen rooms keep the place quiet, and the adults-only policy keeps it that way. Rooms range from 18 to 40 square meters, the largest a suite with its own terrace over the courtyard. Downstairs, Café Ládico handles breakfast, the bar handles the evening, and the outdoor pool with its terrace handles everything in between. There is a proper spa suite too, with a sauna, steam room, and massage treatments, plus a doctor on call. Staff work in English, Spanish, and French, and bikes are available for anyone who wants to reach the Fish Market or Plaza del Carmen without a car. Parking is chargeable, at 15 euros a day, and pets are not part of the arrangement here. This suits a couple who wants a walkable old town and a hotel that does not feel mass produced, not families, and not anyone chasing a beach resort sprawl. What sets it apart from the rest of Mahón's options is that layered family history built directly into the stone and materials, rather than added as decoration afterward. It is a hotel that remembers who built it. A 14-room adults-only boutique in the heart of Mahón, built from local marés stone with a family history dating to 1753. Rooms run 18 to 40 square meters, breakfast happens at Café Ládico, and the pool terrace closes out the day. Not for families or beach-resort seekers.
