THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Hotel Lou Pinet
In the residential quarter of Le Pinet, tucked behind tall umbrella pines that give the hotel its name, Lou Pinet is the kind of address that the Maisons Pariente family does well: deeply considered, unhurried, and designed to feel less like a hotel than a house you have been lent by someone with excellent taste. Opened in 2019 on the site of the former Benkirai, the property was reimagined entirely, with interior architect Charles Zana working in linen, rope, terracotta and Biot glassware, landscape architect Jean Mus shaping the garden with lavender, parasol pines and aromatic Provençal planting, and the whole thing inflected by a 1960s sensibility that references Saint-Tropez's golden era without performing it. Thirty-four rooms and suites are spread across three low-slung houses, each with a private garden or terrace and its own set of keys, in a palette of terracotta, olive green and burnt mustard lifted by local hand-painted ceramics and Matisse-inspired art. The pool, one of the largest in Saint-Tropez, is the heart of the property, lined with loungers and never quite crowded enough to feel like it needs a reservation. Beefbar, the Monaco-born restaurant transplanted here by Riccardo Giraudi, serves American Black Angus, Australian Wagyu and certified Kobe alongside ceviche and truffle pasta in an elegant poolside setting, and La Terrasse handles the lighter Mediterranean hours throughout the day. The Tata Harper spa in the converted basement is small, two treatment rooms and a hammam, and better for it. A free shuttle runs to Place des Lices and the beaches, though the five-minute drive means most guests use it once and then stop bothering. This is a hotel for people who want Saint-Tropez without the noise of Saint-Tropez, close enough to reach the port in minutes, far enough to feel genuinely removed from it. Short version: A 34-room Maisons Pariente property in the pine-shaded Le Pinet quarter, designed by Charles Zana with gardens by Jean Mus, with Beefbar, a Tata Harper spa, and one of the largest pools in Saint-Tropez. Michelin Guide listed.
