THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
La Bastide des Salins
La Bastide des Salins sits four kilometres outside central Saint-Tropez, closer to Les Salins Beach and Plage de la Moutte than to the port-side crowds photographing yachts. With only fourteen rooms, it runs more like a house than a hotel: a bar for the evening, a heated outdoor pool that stays usable past the point when other properties drain theirs for the season, and a small fitness room for anyone unwilling to let the holiday undo the gym routine entirely. Bikes are available for the ride along the coast, and a shuttle can be arranged to and from the airport, which matters more here than in town, given the distance. Staff speak English, French, Italian and Spanish, and the hotel is wheelchair accessible, an uncommon detail at this size and worth noting if mobility is a factor in how a trip gets planned. Rooms carry air conditioning, a balcony or terrace, and room service, with options running from a straightforward double up through suites and a family suite for groups travelling together. This is not a hotel for people chasing the Saint-Tropez of beach clubs and boutique windows; the centre is a drive or a committed walk away, and the setting is quieter, more residential, closer to sand than to spectacle. It suits someone who wants the region's light and water without the performance of being seen, who would rather swim at odd hours than queue for a table. Breakfast can be taken in the room if mornings are better spent unhurried. The gap between this and the town is the whole point, not a flaw to work around. Four kilometres from central Saint-Tropez, this fourteen-room hotel offers a heated pool, beach access, bike rental and wheelchair accessibility, better suited to quiet mornings by the water than to the port's social scene.

THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT

The property's pool is heated, making it usable outside the height of summer, and sits opposite a Japanese-style garden across the terrace. A poolside bar serves cocktails nearby, and breakfast is often taken on the surrounding terrace, making the pool deck the social heart of this small, garden-set hotel.

All fourteen rooms and suites were renovated in sky-blue and white tones echoing the mansion's Provençal exterior, and guests receive a personalized welcome gift on arrival. The scale is deliberately small, closer to a private house than a conventional hotel, with air conditioning, heating and a balcony or terrace in every room.
Various dining options are available, including a café and a bar. A fortifying breakfast is served daily. Special culinary options, such as diet meals, are also available. The hotel also offers special catering options.
