THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
10 Karakoy Istanbul, A Morgans Original Hotel
Ten Karaköy occupies the old Büyük Balıklı Han, its six floors opening onto a glass-roofed atrium, reimagined by architect Sinan Kafadar into a 71-room hotel that keeps the original shell while rebuilding everything inside it. Turkish artists, among them Ceylan Dökmen and Bedri Rahmi Eyüpoğlu, hang across the lobby, restaurant and bars, so the art is part of the walk to your room rather than something added afterward. Brasserie Ten runs breakfast and international plates, Bahane on10 sends Turkish mezes up to the rooftop meyhane, and Kupaj Lounge & Bar and Seagull Terrace cover the hours in between. Rooms start with a 183-square-foot Classic Queen and run up through corner suites to a Penthouse with its own private terrace, each fitted with soundproofing, air conditioning, a minibar and blackout blinds. Karaköy itself does the rest of the work: Galata Tower, Galata Bridge, the Istanbul Modern Art Museum and Galataport are all within a short walk, and the fish market is closer still. What separates this address from Istanbul's other luxury hotels is a Michelin Guide hotel recommendation, an unusual credential for a converted historic property, alongside its own Türkiye Sustainable Tourism Program certification. It suits people who want an art-filled, historically anchored stay in the middle of Istanbul, close enough to Galata Tower and the fish market to skip taxis entirely. It is not the choice for anyone traveling with a pet, since none are allowed, or for someone who wants a swimming pool on site, since none features among its amenities. The atrium under that glass roof, six floors up from a merchant history, is what stays with people after they check out. A former merchant han in Karaköy, reworked into a 71-room hotel around a glass-roofed atrium, carries Michelin Guide recognition and Turkish art in every hallway. Rooms range from a compact Classic Queen to a private-terrace Penthouse. It suits history-minded travelers, not anyone bringing a pet or wanting a pool.

Original works by Turkish artists, including Ceylan Dökmen, Yiğit Yazıcı and Bedri Rahmi Eyüpoğlu, are displayed across the lobby, restaurant and bars. The hotel also hosts exhibitions with local platform Art Crowd in the Kupaj Lounge and sponsors the Contemporary Istanbul Art Fair, reflecting its ongoing support of the city's creative community.
