THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Serinn House
Esbelli Sokak, in Urgup's oldest quarter, is where Serinn House cuts into the volcanic rock that shaped Cappadocia, with views across the town and the mountains beyond. There are only five rooms, each one designed individually by Turkish architect Rifat Ergor rather than repeated from a single floor plan, so a cave room built around one rock formation looks nothing like the stone room down the hall. Eren Serpen, an Istanbul native who spent two decades in international aviation and hospitality before deciding to run her own hotel, owns and oversees it, and she speaks English, Italian and Turkish with guests. The property is a one-minute drive from Göreme National Park and seven minutes from the Göreme Open Air Museum, with the town center itself a kilometer away. Mornings start with a buffet breakfast served from eight to eleven, and the terrace and garden give somewhere to sit afterward; a small library and bikes for rent cover the rest of the day. Rooms come with private showers, orthopedic mattresses, fine cotton linens, hairdryers, safes and bottled water, with housekeeping daily. There's no elevator, which matters if stairs are a problem, and with only five rooms, this suits two people wanting a specific corner of Cappadocia more than a group looking for scale. Free Wi-Fi and free self-parking are included, and an airport transfer can be arranged for a small fee. What stays with you afterward isn't the view, it's that every room here was actually considered on its own terms. Five rooms cut into the rock on Esbelli Sokak, each designed individually by architect Rifat Ergor, one minute from Göreme National Park. Owner Eren Serpen, back from two decades in global aviation and hospitality, runs it herself. It suits couples wanting an intimate Cappadocia stay, not those chasing resort-scale amenities.
