THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The Hedges Inn
Thirteen rooms spread across three floors, a short walk from East Hampton's village center to Guild Hall and the Home Sweet Home Museum, and The Hedges Inn sits in that compact, walkable pocket of the Hamptons where the Jewish Center of the Hamptons anchors one end of the block and the inn's own bar and restaurant anchor the other. No child under ten is permitted to check in here, which tells you plainly who books this: couples and friends travelling without kids, people who came for antique-shop mornings and gallery afternoons rather than a splash pad. What separates it from the bigger Hamptons resorts is not size but scale: a picnic area instead of a pool deck, a tour assistance desk and concierge instead of a full activities program, staff who work in English and Spanish rather than run a multilingual front desk. Standard Rooms measure 86 square feet with a full double bed or twin beds, air conditioning, a safe and a private bathroom; the Suite, at 248 square feet, adds a mirror and telephone and sleeps up to four. Every room comes with a television and a bathrobe, and pets can travel along for 150 dollars a stay. Check-in runs from 4pm, check-out is at noon, and the inn closes entirely from November through March, which makes this a warm-season booking rather than a year-round one. It will not suit anyone travelling with young children, or anyone hoping for a resort's scale of amenities. It suits someone who wants a small, adults-only base within walking distance of East Hampton's museums and community landmarks, a restaurant and bar downstairs, and little else to manage. A 13-room, adults-only inn in East Hampton that closes from November through March, with a picnic area and restaurant-bar rather than resort amenities. Standard Rooms run 86 square feet, the Suite 248, and pets pay a 150 dollar fee to stay.

THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT

Your taste already has an address

In 2025 the property's twelve guest rooms and public spaces were reworked by interior designer David Netto, with FGS Designs and Fleetwood, McMullan & Sanabria overseeing the architecture and landscape designer Ed Hollander reshaping the gardens. The refresh keeps the inn's historic 1873 bones while giving rooms a lighter, more contemporary coastal feel.
Your air-conditioned room, fitted with a double bed, safe, and satellite TV, is your haven after a day of exploring. The modern bathroom, equipped with a shower and a hairdryer, adds a touch of luxury.
The inn's terrace is a great place to soak up the East Hampton sun. For an added dose of relaxation, book a massage in our wellness area.
Kickstart your day with our continental breakfast served at the inn's cozy bar.
