THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Palacio Tangara
The suites at Palacio Tangara look out over the canopy of Burle Marx Park, and the building was designed specifically around that view. This is the first Oetker Collection hotel in South America, built by B+H Architects, Bick Simonato and PAR Arquitetura, with interiors by Bick Simonato and Anastassiadis treating each space as its own bespoke concept rather than a repeated template. Only 141 rooms are spread across five floors, which keeps the pace unhurried. That suits someone who wants a spa afternoon, sauna, steam room, spa tub, massage, a doctor on call if needed, followed by dinner in the restaurant, and it works for a family too, since there are dedicated playrooms for children and pets are welcome for a fee. It sits thirteen kilometres from the city center, closer to Ibirapuera Park and Beco do Batman than to the old downtown, so anyone wanting to be based in the historic core should look elsewhere. Rooms range from Deluxe doubles to Prestige suites with private terraces, several over a thousand square feet, each fitted with a bathrobe, slippers, minibar and air conditioning. Business events run through a dedicated conference hall without needing to leave the property. Check-in is at three, checkout at noon, and a 1,500 BRL daily deposit is taken on arrival for damages, worth budgeting for before the bill arrives. What sets this address apart from anywhere else in Sao Paulo is simple: the park it was built to face. Sao Paulo's first Oetker Collection hotel was built to face Burle Marx Park, with only 141 rooms across five floors and suites with private terraces. It sits thirteen kilometres from downtown, with playrooms for children and pets welcome for a fee.
