THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Park Hyatt Toronto
Two kilometres from downtown Toronto, in Yorkville, Park Hyatt Toronto sits close enough to the Royal Ontario Museum and the University of Toronto that both are a walk rather than a cab ride. The building has stood here since 1975, fourteen floors and 219 rooms, renovated in September 2021 into the version guests meet today. What separates it from the other five-star names nearby is Joni, its restaurant, built on a bistronomy idea few hotel kitchens attempt: casual bistro cooking pushed through modern gastronomy technique rather than plated into something safer. Room categories vary more than the brochure photos suggest, from a Standard King around 355 square feet to a Deluxe Corner King Suite at 850, so it is worth checking square footage rather than assuming one size fits the price bracket; safe and toiletries are standard across every category. The Stillwater Spa covers massage and sauna for anyone who wants an hour off the itinerary, and a bicycle valet turns the surrounding blocks into transport rather than a photo backdrop. Staff speak English, French, German and Spanish, which matters given how international the guest list runs, and pets are allowed, not a given at this level in this city. This suits someone who wants a serious address within walking distance of museums and shopping and has no patience for a boutique inn's quirks; it will feel too large and too formal for anyone chasing intimacy. A 200 CAD nightly deposit is taken at check-in, checkout is noon, ordinary terms for what the address otherwise delivers. Fifty years on, Yorkville still has not produced a kitchen to match Joni's, or a bicycle program built to replace the car. Park Hyatt Toronto sits in Yorkville, two kilometres from downtown, near the Royal Ontario Museum, with Joni's bistronomy kitchen setting it apart from neighbouring five-star addresses. Rooms range from 355 to 850 square feet, and pets are welcome. It suits museum-and-shopping travellers more than anyone wanting a small, personal inn.
