THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Grand Powers Hotel
On Rue François 1er, in the middle of Paris's Golden Triangle, Grand Powers has kept its 1920s bones: original moldings, antique fireplaces, and rooms color-coded by floor in powder pink, celadon green, or blue, furnished in aged brass, marble, oak, and walnut with velvet and silk. It suits someone who wants proof a hotel has history rather than a redesign, and it does not suit anyone chasing a sprawling resort, since this is 50 rooms tucked into a single Parisian block, four kilometers from the city center, near L'Atelier Renault and Galeries Lafayette Champs-Élysées. What sets it apart from other grand addresses nearby is that every one of those 50 rooms comes with a yoga mat, and arrival means an organic herbal infusion or a glass of Champagne rather than a printed welcome card. Chef Maxime Raab runs Café 52 downstairs with a seasonal, largely vegetarian-friendly menu, and the adjoining bar pours cocktails with the same healthy-minded slant. Spa Thala, wrapped entirely in marble, holds a hammam, a Jacuzzi, and tailor-made Holidermie treatments. The hotel holds Green Key certification, runs a business center and event spaces including the Eugène lounge, and allows pets for a fee, useful for anyone who travels with a dog and does not want to leave it behind. Extra beds and any damages both carry daily charges, worth checking before you book a family room. Check-in is at 3pm, checkout at noon. What Grand Powers offers, in the end, is a century-old Paris address that has decided wellness and heritage do not have to compete. A 1920s Golden Triangle address, Grand Powers pairs original moldings and fireplaces with yoga mats in every one of its 50 rooms and a marble spa built around a hammam. Chef Maxime Raab's seasonal, vegetarian-friendly menu suits travelers who want heritage without heaviness; pets are welcome, families pay extra.
