THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Hotel Icon
On the ninth floor of Hotel Icon in Tsim Sha Tsui East, a heated outdoor pool faces Victoria Harbour, one of the top six hotel pools in the region at the 2026 Travel & Leisure Luxury Awards Asia Pacific. Downstairs, staff wearing orange name badges are hospitality students from Hong Kong Polytechnic University, working reception and the business center as part of their training. The 28-storey hotel holds 262 rooms above a vertical garden and a grand sweeping staircase, its interiors setting Eastern references against a contemporary Western frame. Above & Beyond, the Cantonese restaurant designed by Terence Conran and hung with Chinese art, has featured in the Michelin Guide and made South China Morning Post's '100 Top Tables' list six years running; in October 2025 the hotel received a MICHELIN Key. Rooms span the 388-square-foot Icon 36, with blackout blinds and a minibar, up to the 700-square-foot Club King Studio Suite; every one is non-smoking, and every phone in the room carries unlimited data and calls, no local SIM needed. A deposit is due at check-in, HKD 500 a night for Icon and Club rooms, HKD 3,000 for Club Suites, and only one child is permitted per room. This suits travellers who want design paired with a working transit hub, shopping, cultural sites and business addresses all close by, more than those chasing total seclusion, and who don't mind that the polish comes with a training-school edge rather than decades of the same staff. Smokers should look elsewhere; the entire property, rooms included, is smoke-free. What lingers afterward is less the harbour view than watching people still learning the job do it well anyway. In Tsim Sha Tsui East, Hotel Icon puts Kowloon's shopping, culture and business districts within reach, with reception partly staffed by Hong Kong Polytechnic University hospitality students. The 262-room hotel holds a MICHELIN Key and a top-six ranked pool, and every room is non-smoking.

Timeless Lounge frames three Kowloon landmarks at once: the PolyU architecture, the Harbour tunnel and Victoria Harbour itself. Guests can settle in with signature cocktails, wines and a mix of cold and hot bites while watching the sunset turn into the city's night lights, an evening ritual distinct to this rooftop-level lounge.
