THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The Peninsula Hong Kong
The Peninsula Hong Kong has been sitting at the tip of the Tsim Sha Tsui peninsula since 1928, and it still owns the view: Victoria Harbour spread out in front, Hong Kong Island rising across the water, Nathan Road's shopping just around the corner. Three hundred rooms across thirty floors, and the ones renovated most recently are among the most spacious in the city, finished to a standard that doesn't need much explaining once you're inside. What sets it apart from every other harbourfront address here is the fleet: a run of Rolls-Royce cars including a 1934 Phantom II, plus a rooftop helipad with its own helicopter for guests who'd rather skip the bridge traffic entirely. Nine restaurants and bars cover most cravings, the spa runs to a Roman-style indoor pool, sauna and steam rooms, and the health club looks straight out over the harbour while you're on the treadmill. This suits a woman who wants old-world scale done properly, who doesn't mind paying for history and doesn't need a hotel to reinvent itself to prove it's good. It won't suit anyone chasing a quiet, unbranded corner of the city, this is a landmark and it behaves like one, with a business center, meeting rooms and staff who speak eleven languages to guests, not at them. Note that Hong Kong's plastic rules mean no bottled water or disposable toiletries in the room, so pack your own. EarthCheck certification backs up the practical side of that. Whatever else changes in Kowloon, this building has watched it happen since 1928, and it shows. A 1928 landmark on the tip of Tsim Sha Tsui with harbour views, a fleet of vintage Rolls-Royce cars and its own helipad. Built for guests who want old-world scale, not for those seeking anonymity.

Opened in 1928 on the tip of the Tsim Sha Tsui peninsula, The Peninsula Hong Kong remains one of only thirteen hotels worldwide to hold a triple five-star rating. Its colonial-era facade overlooks Victoria Harbour, standing near Nathan Road and the historic Star Ferry pier as a longstanding fixture of the city's skyline.
