THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Oberoi Rajvillas
Mashaal torches line the pathways at dusk across the Oberoi Rajvilas's thirty-two acres, where reflection pools sit still between stretches of garden that keep central Jaipur, eight kilometres away, out of earshot. The hotel works in tents as much as rooms: canvas suites built along Maharaja-era lines, one stretching to 484 square feet with a full double bed and its own bathroom, and a separate premier room that opens onto its own private garden. For travellers wanting more space, a villa with a private pool runs to roughly 3,800 square feet, with its own patio, dining area, air conditioning and a minibar for a stay that doesn't need to end at dinner. Restaurants serve Rajasthani and international menus alongside a bar, cafe and snack bar, and a wellness wing carries a sauna, steam room and massage rooms for slower mornings. There's a pool, tennis court, gym and mini-golf for anyone restless, and a library and picnic area for anyone not. Seventy-one rooms keep the property intimate rather than sprawling, though a playroom and babysitting mean it isn't reserved only for couples, even if that's clearly half the point of the place. Airport transfers cost 3,500 INR for the round trip, and early check-in is available on request for anyone landing before the usual 2pm. Anyone hoping to step straight out into Jaipur's bazaars should look elsewhere; this is a garden retreat, not a city base. What separates it from other hotels in the city is the tented architecture itself, a canvas-and-stone reading of royal camp life that no concrete tower quite replicates. Canvas suites styled after Maharaja-era camps spread across thirty-two acres of Jaipur garden, eight kilometres from the city's noise. A private-pool villa sits at one end of the property, a children's playroom at the other. The tented architecture is what no concrete hotel nearby can copy.

Spread across thirty-two acres, the hotel's grounds feature tranquil reflection pools and traditional architecture alongside an outdoor swimming pool. Flaming mashaal torches line the pathways at night, creating a setting the property uses for its curated romantic experiences for couples.
