THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The Woodward
The Woodward sits on the shore of Lake Geneva behind a Belle Époque facade, with views reaching across the water to Mont Blanc, close enough to walk to the Jet d'Eau fountain, La Perle-du-Lac Park and the Paquis Baths. Architect Pierre-Yves Rochon reworked the interior into 26 suites spread over seven floors, 21 of them looking out over the lake, each with its own marble fireplace, private bathroom, safe and toiletries; the smallest, the Junior King Suite, still runs 592 square feet, and sizes climb past 860 in the Standard King. Two full floors are given to wellness, with a sauna, steam room and spa beside a fitness room, and dining is split three ways between Le Jardinier, Bar 37 and L'Atelier Robuchon, the only two-Michelin-starred restaurant in Geneva and the one thing on this stretch of lakefront no other address can offer. A conference hall and business center sit downstairs for anyone working through the trip, and the 24-hour desk handles currency exchange, ticket bookings and check-in in several languages, with contactless check-in available for guests who would rather skip the counter. Pets can stay for a 50 CHF deposit and a nightly fee; an extra bed runs 150 CHF a night, a fair sign that these suites are built for two people rather than a family piling in. Check-in is from 3pm, checkout at noon. None of this suits someone hunting a lively, shared, budget stay near the station; it suits someone who wants a lake view, a serious kitchen, and a spa floor within an elevator ride of bed, and is willing to pay for all three at once. Twenty-six lake-facing suites in a Belle Époque building on Geneva's shore, with two wellness floors and the city's only two-Michelin-starred restaurant, L'Atelier Robuchon. Built for couples who want a lake view and a serious kitchen together, not for a lively budget stay near the station.
