THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The Peninsula London
Ask for a room on the upper floors of The Peninsula London and the floor-to-ceiling windows frame Wellington Arch and Hyde Park Corner directly, with Belgravia's period terraces rolling out beyond; the courtyard-facing Deluxe Rooms trade that view for the hotel's own classically landscaped English courtyard instead. The building itself is newly built, eight floors and 190 rooms, so the honey onyx bathrooms, mahogany-panelled dressing rooms and bedside touchscreens for lighting and temperature read as designed-in rather than added later. What the grand names nearby cannot offer is the Valet Box in every room, a signature Peninsula fitting, matched with PenChat, a round-the-clock e-concierge for guests who would rather message than queue at a desk. Two named restaurants, Canton Blue and Brooklands by Claude Bosi, along with a cafe and two bars, mean a full run of meals without stepping outside, and downstairs there is a spa, sauna, gym and pool, plus conference and event rooms for anyone here to work rather than wander. EarthCheck certification means the sustainability claims have been checked externally rather than simply printed on a card. None of it is casual spending: breakfast runs to roughly £44-49 a head, parking is £75 a day, and a £300 security deposit is taken at check-in, with a further charge for anyone travelling with a pet. This suits a stay where the address and the newly built detailing behind the walls matter more than the nightly total, not a trip planned around a free hotel breakfast. It is a new room behind an old address, and it does not pretend otherwise. Newly built behind a Belgravia address, The Peninsula London pairs floor-to-ceiling views of Wellington Arch with a Valet Box and PenChat e-concierge in every room. It suits guests who want the address and the engineering, not a cheap breakfast.
