THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Snowpine Lodge
Little Cottonwood Canyon narrows to a single road before it reaches Snowpine Lodge, and from the terrace at Alta guests step directly onto the slopes, past the Rustler Ski Lift and Alta Ski Area lifts that give the property its ski-in, ski-out claim, one few competitors in the canyon can match. Built in 2019 on ground that has held a lodge since the mining era, the 21-room property spreads across six floors, small enough that the front desk knows names by the second morning. Days that don't involve skiing lean toward the Stillwell Spa, where a plunge pool sits in a dimly lit grotto built from the original granite stone, or toward the sauna and fitness room down the corridor. Swen's Restaurant handles breakfast before the lifts open, and a business center and conference hall mean the lodge doubles as a meeting venue without feeling corporate. Families get a playroom, skiers get rental gear and passes arranged on-site, and anyone driving up should note the resort fee of USD 57.46 charged nightly through the winter season, plus 25 dollars for an extra bed. Rooms run from a 215-square-foot Standard Queen to a 452-square-foot Standard Double Suite, most with blackout blinds and heated floors ready for the après-ski shuffle. This isn't the place for someone chasing anonymity in a 500-room resort, and it isn't downtown Salt Lake convenience either. It suits a couple who wants to fall out of bed and onto a chairlift, or a small group booking the conference hall for a retreat with mountain views instead of a windowless hall. What Snowpine has that its canyon neighbors don't is that granite-grotto spa built into the same rock the miners once worked. Check-in is 4pm, checkout 10am, and the mountain outside doesn't care which. Ski-in, ski-out at the base of Little Cottonwood Canyon, Snowpine Lodge pairs a 21-room, six-floor property with a spa carved into original granite. It suits skiers who want the lift at the door, not travelers chasing city convenience.
