THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Sagamore Pendry Baltimore
Rec Pier still shows on old harbor maps from 1914, and Sagamore Pendry Baltimore has kept the building's bones while rebuilding everything else around them. This is a converted dockside structure, not a purpose-built hotel, and that shows in the details: the brick, the proportions, the way rooms look straight out over the water rather than at a parking lot. It sits about two kilometers from downtown Baltimore, close enough to walk to Fell's Point Visitor Center and the Robert Long House, far enough to feel removed from the traffic. With only 128 rooms across three low floors, it reads more like a well-run inn than a convention hotel, which suits a traveler who wants quiet corridors and a staff that remembers her name, not someone chasing a rooftop scene or a lobby full of noise. Deluxe and standard rooms come with balconies over the harbor or courtyard, air conditioning, mini bars and proper toiletries, and the largest suites run past 700 square feet. Downstairs there's a spa with massage treatments, a gym, an outdoor pool, and a bar and restaurant that don't try too hard. Business travelers get a conference hall and meeting rooms; dog owners get a 150 dollar deposit and a welcome rather than a lecture. Check-in is 3pm, check-out noon, and a 150 dollar damage deposit applies at arrival. It belongs to Montage Hotels & Resorts, which explains the polish without the pretension. What it does not offer is anonymity or scale; anyone wanting a big-brand tower with a thousand rooms and five restaurants should look elsewhere. A restored 1914 pier building on Baltimore's harbor, three floors, 128 rooms, spa, pool and gym, walking distance to Fell's Point. Built for travelers who want history and quiet over scale, not for anyone chasing a big-brand tower.

At the end of the restored pier, an outdoor pool deck overlooks Baltimore's harbor, ringed by sunbeds with private cabanas on one side and a cocktail bar on the other. The seasonal pool functions as a social hub for guests, pairing harbor views with poolside drinks and lounging above the water.
