THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek Hotel
Turtle Creek Boulevard climbs a terraced hill in Uptown Dallas, and at the top sits a mansion built in the 1920s for a Texas cotton magnate, converted into a 143-room hotel in 1981 without stripping out the hand-carved fireplaces, marble floors, and stained-glass windows that made the house famous long before it took guests. A doorman still meets arrivals at the entrance, and the nine floors above hold rooms with bathrobes, indoor fireplaces, and a garden to wander after dinner. The Mansion Restaurant is the reason people who don't usually plan a trip around hotel dining make an exception here: Travel + Leisure named it the top U.S. hotel restaurant, and the hotel itself has held Mobil Five-Star status since 1991 and AAA Five-Diamond since 1992, ratings that don't come from a nice lobby alone. Downtown Dallas is five minutes away, Dallas-Fort Worth airport under thirty, and the Park Cities, the city's most prestigious residential area, sit next door, so this suits someone who wants a short cab ride into meetings and a walk to Lee Park or Theatre Three afterward. It does not suit anyone chasing a rooftop scene or a skyline view, since the property reads more old Dallas residence than new-build glamour. Breakfast runs on a $30 daily credit rather than a full buffet, parking costs $70 a day, and a $250 nightly deposit is taken by bank transfer on arrival, worth knowing before the budget is set. Check-in is 4pm, check-out noon, and pets are welcome for a flat $185 per stay. What lingers after checkout is the restaurant, not the room. A 1920s Dallas mansion turned 143-room hotel, five minutes from downtown and the reason serious diners book a room just to eat at the Mansion Restaurant. Mobil Five-Star since 1991, it suits someone who wants old-money quiet over rooftop noise, though budget breakfast and parking come extra.

Guests can unwind at the hotel's tranquil outdoor swimming pool, part of a wellness offering that also includes a full spa, sauna, steam room and massage treatments. Set within the landscaped grounds of the historic estate, the pool provides a quiet escape just minutes from downtown Dallas, rounding out the property's blend of residential charm and five-star amenities.
