Three Conch-Victorian houses built in 1884 anchor the Marquesa Hotel, one block off Duval Street in Old Town Key West, their courtyards, a koi pond and three small pools tucked among heritage gardens that the founding Wightman and deBoer family have tended since opening the property in 1988. Noble House Hotels & Resorts bought half the operation in 2022, but the family still owns the other half, and it shows in details a chain would smooth over: no elevators across the three floors, gardens that read as personal rather than landscaped, forty-four rooms spread across the original compound and the later Marquesa 414 addition. Café Marquesa, the on-site restaurant, holds a Wine Spectator Award of Excellence and is run by chef Travis Lee, previously of Mujō in Atlanta; it is the kind of dining room locals book for anniversaries, not room-service backup. The hotel is the only property in Key West carrying a MICHELIN Two Keys designation, which tracks with what's on the ground: quiet corridors, a policy against stag and hen parties, and an adults-only house rule that keeps children out of the equation entirely. None of this suits anyone who wants a lift to their room, a family pool day, or a resort with a beach club attached, though the water is close enough to walk to. What it does offer is a version of Key West that predates the bar crawl, still standing, still family-run, one block from the noise and entirely uninterested in joining it.
