THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Ette Hotel
Eight kilometers from downtown Orlando, in Four Corners, Ette Hotel sits closer to golf courses and water parks than to the city's core, giving guests a base for theme-park days without giving up on evenings out. What sets it apart is not the spa or the pool, both present and useful, but the open-concept laundry facility, the first of its kind at any hotel, where towels and linens are washed in full view behind glass while guests sip Onyx coffee and eat the house's own Bomb-ette pastries on a long bench built for watching. Dining carries similar ambition: Michelin-starred chef Akira Back runs Salt & the Cellar, a Mediterranean-Asian kitchen serving breakfast through dinner, and sends guests up to Lipa Rooftop on the sixth floor for cocktails and old-world Asian plates after dark. The 126 rooms range from a compact 291-square-foot Standard King, fitted with bathrobes, a mini bar, blackout blinds and hypoallergenic bedding, to a 581-square-foot Standard King Suite. A TASCHEN-stocked Book Room, entered by request and handled in white gloves, gives quieter afternoons somewhere to go besides the pool, which opens at nine and closes at six. None of this comes cheap: a $200 deposit lands per stay, breakfast runs $28 to $55 if it is not already built into the rate, and an extra bed costs $65 a night. This suits a couple or solo traveler who wants proximity to the parks without staying inside one, and who does not mind paying hotel prices for hotel theater. It will read as excessive to anyone hunting a simple room near the gates. Pets are welcome, and check-in opens at four, leaving the whole day free to arrive.\n\nEtte Hotel pairs a first-of-its-kind open laundry facility with a Michelin-starred kitchen from chef Akira Back, eight kilometers from Orlando's parks. Rooms run 291 to 581 square feet, with a $200 deposit attached. It suits travelers who want polish near the gates, not bargain hunters.
