A neon diving girl from 1954, found rusting when the current owners bought the property, now watches over the pool at Dive Palm Springs, restored to her original glow along with the historic Libott-designed basin beneath her. The hotel sits three kilometres from downtown Palm Springs, a single-storey, 13-room retreat where every guest is an adult and the days are built around not much more than sun, water, and stillness. Mornings bring a complimentary prix fixe breakfast under the palms; afternoons move between the outdoor pool, a 12-person jacuzzi, infrared sauna, and cold plunge, with massage and a spa tub rounding out the rest. There is a garden with bistro tables and daybeds, a sun deck, a picnic and barbecue area, and bicycles free to borrow for the short ride into town. Dogs are welcome for a fee, English and Spanish are spoken at the desk, and check-in is handled without a queue, one guest at a time. None of this is for anyone travelling with children, or for a group that wants a lobby full of activity; there is no elevator, but the whole property lives on one floor, and the rooms, styled after Saint-Tropez with private patios, bathrobes and blackout blinds, are built for people who plan to stay in them. The hotel's swimming pool is a restored Libott-designed original that came with the property and was returned to its former glory. Surrounded by cabanas, striped loungers and a twelve-person jacuzzi, it functions as the social heart of the stay. The restoration kept the pool's historic lines while adding modern comforts for lounging.
