THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Lotte Hotel Seattle
The front desk at Lotte Hotel Seattle is carved from a single Sequoia log three thousand years old, planted a millennium before the city existed, and it sets the tone for a hotel built on the friction between old and new. Two structures were fused into one: the Sanctuary, a preserved piece of Seattle's built history, welded to a glass tower designed by Philippe Starck, complete with windows set above the bathroom sinks and full-length arched mirrors that catch you off guard. That pairing, historic shell and Starck's interior games, is not something the convention-district hotels around it can claim, and it is the reason the property earned a 2024 MICHELIN Key. The 189 rooms run from Deluxe doubles to a 15th-floor Presidential Suite, each with a minibar, espresso maker and a 55-inch screen. Charlotte Restaurant & Lounge sits on the 16th floor with Elliott Bay views for breakfast through dinner, and Le SPA de l'hôtel LOTTE and a 24-hour fitness center handle the rest of the day. Staff speak English, Spanish, Korean, Russian and Chinese, useful given how international the guest mix skews, and pets are welcome without fuss beyond the deposit. Business travelers get 27,902 square feet of meeting space and a 24-hour business center, which makes this a better fit for someone mixing a conference with a proper dinner than for a couple chasing a quiet residential corner of the city. Sky View Observatory and the waterfront are a short walk away, the Space Needle a short drive. The log at the front desk outlasted the city by three thousand years. The hotel is betting it can outlast a few trends too. Lotte Hotel Seattle fuses a preserved historic building with a Philippe Starck glass tower, its front desk carved from a 3,000-year-old Sequoia log. Downtown near Sky View Observatory and the waterfront, it suits business travelers and design-minded couples more than those wanting a quiet corner of the city.

Lotte Hotel Seattle joins two structures into one: the Sanctuary, a treasured historic landmark, fused with a sparkling modern glass tower designed with Philippe Starck. Timber motifs and log-shaped furnishings nod to Seattle's origins as a logging town, and the front desk itself is carved from a 3,000-year-old Sequoia log.
