THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
The Anam Mui Ne
Mui Ne's dunes and fishing boats give way, at The Anam, to 127 rooms spread across five low-rise floors on a stretch of private beach roughly ten kilometres from central Phan Thiet, close enough to Ham Tien and Mui Ne beaches for an afternoon wander but far enough to skip the traffic. Sailing and windsurfing sit alongside the pool facilities, useful for anyone not content to only swim, and a kids' club and playroom mean parents can hand off children mid-morning without the usual guilt. Couples chasing quiet gravitate toward the Standard Double Suite with its own pool, a 1,528-square-foot room roughly three times the size of the resort's standard doubles. What The Anam has that few beach resorts attempt is its Champa Journey spa collection: four 120-minute rituals built around perilla leaf, turmeric, pomelo leaf and mineral-rich mud, developed around the ancient Champa Kingdom that once ruled this stretch of coast, rather than borrowed from a generic wellness template. Three restaurants, the Indochine, Lang Viet and Saigon Bar, cover the ground between poolside international plates and dishes drawn from Vietnam's regional cooking, so there's little reason to leave for dinner. None of this comes free of friction: breakfast runs close to VND 635,000 per adult, a damage deposit of one million VND a day is collected at check-in, and the pool closes at six in the evening. Guests wanting nightlife within walking distance, or a no-deposit stay, should look toward central Phan Thiet instead. Everyone else gets a resort built around a coastline, not a lobby. The Anam occupies a private stretch of Mui Ne beach with a spa collection built around the region's Champa Kingdom heritage. It suits couples wanting a private-pool suite and families with a kids' club, less so anyone after nightlife on foot or a deposit-free stay.
