THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Villa Flor
Villa Flor sits in S-chanf, a small Engadin village on the Inn river at the edge of the Swiss National Park, inside a manor house built in 1904. The building holds only seven rooms, and each one is furnished on its own terms: family heirlooms, flea market finds, vintage lamps, Jugendstil pieces and design classics sit alongside art exhibitions, wall paintings and ceiling paintings that turn the house itself into a work of art. Guests can walk from the villa to the St. Moritz Leaning Tower, Lake St. Moritz and the Salastrains Ski Lift, and in winter the property runs its own skiing area for anyone who wants to start the day on snow without driving anywhere first. Evenings tend to gather in the villa's library or its red salon, and the staff switch between English, Italian and German depending on who's arrived, which says something about who tends to show up: art collectors, hikers bound for the national park, and guests here for the golf course ten minutes away or the cross-country trails that finish in the village itself. What sets Villa Flor apart from the Engadin's other small hotels is its decades-long thread through the design and travel press, from Vogue and Architectural Digest to Monocle and Taschen's Great Escapes, all drawn to the same seven rooms rather than a chain concept repeated at scale. This is not the address for anyone wanting identical rooms or a lobby full of strangers; the free Wi-Fi, the bar and free parking are conveniences, not the point. The point is a house furnished, painting by painting, since 1904, still answering to its host rather than a brand manual. Seven individually furnished rooms inside a 1904 manor house on the Inn, edge of the Swiss National Park, with a library, a red salon and a press history running from Vogue to Taschen. It suits art lovers and hikers more than anyone wanting a uniform room or a big lobby.

THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT

Your taste already has an address

Guests start each morning with a breakfast built around fresh, local ingredients, including crusty bread, homemade jam, a selection of Reichmuth von Reding teas and Amici coffee. Served daily and included in the room rate, the spread reflects the villa's focus on regional flavour rather than an extensive buffet.
