THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Cameron House
Cameron House sits on the shore of Loch Lomond inside Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, its core a 17th-century mansion where the suites are named after islands scattered across the water outside the window. The resort spreads across 132 rooms, suites, lodges and apartments, two kilometers from Balloch and about 32km from Glasgow, close enough for a weekend yet far enough to feel like you've left the city behind. What sets it apart from other loch-side hotels is the scale of what's bundled in: two golf courses, a private marina, a health club, and a separate spa three miles up the road at The Carrick, complete with a rooftop infinity pool and its own shuttle service. Families get a kids' club, a playground, and family rooms; golfers and boaters get facilities most resorts this size can't match; anyone chasing a Green Tourism Gold award's worth of conscience can note the kitchen garden supplies around 60% of the herbs, flowers and fruit for its restaurant LOMA, and 99% of the resort's waste avoids landfill. It's less suited to travelers wanting quiet minimalism: between the casino, karaoke, bowling and nightclub, evenings here lean toward activity, not silence. Dining has its own etiquette: Martin Wisharts closes Mondays and Tuesdays and enforces a no-jeans, no-trainers rule, and the Cameron Grill skips lunch entirely, so it pays to check ahead before assuming a table. Check-in is from 4pm, checkout by 11am. What lingers isn't the extras but the setting itself: a mansion, a loch, and islands with names you can now put a room to. A 17th-century mansion on Loch Lomond with rooms named after its islands, two golf courses, a marina, and a spa three miles away with its own shuttle. Restaurants keep firm dress and hour rules. Good for golfers and families; not for those chasing quiet.

The resort's own kitchen garden supplies around sixty percent of the herbs, flowers and fruit used by its restaurant LOMA, reducing food miles and keeping dishes tied to the surrounding Loch Lomond landscape. It reflects a broader estate commitment to local sourcing and seasonal menus across the resort's dining rooms.
Electric car charging points are provided on the property.
