Hotel Diplomat
Strandvägen curves along Nybroviken's waterfront, and Hotel Diplomat has held its spot on that esplanade since 1911, when the Art Nouveau facade of what locals called the Boström Palace first went up. The hotel remains part of the family-owned Diplomat Collection, the founding property alongside Villa Dagmar and Villa Dahlia, and Condé Nast Traveler's readers named it among the best hotels in Europe for 2025. That water view is the thing few competitors on this stretch can match: rooms facing Nybroviken look straight over the boats moored below, while rooms on the courtyard side get a quieter, more private outlook. There are 130 rooms across six floors, and some come with wide DUX beds dressed in cotton sateen linens from the hotel's own collection. The Dagmar Mastersvit runs 69 square metres with its own steam sauna, useful for a family taking over adjoining rooms or a couple marking something worth marking. Downstairs, the spa area has a proper sauna and steam room alongside massage and beauty treatments, and guests can use the gym and fitness room. A concierge desk, business center, and multilingual staff speaking English, German, Italian, Spanish and Russian point toward guests mixing meetings with sightseeing, and Östermalms Saluhall food market and Östermalmstorg are within walking distance. Pets travel with a deposit rather than a blanket no, which suits a certain kind of traveller and rules out others who want the option without the paperwork. This is not a hotel for anyone chasing anonymity or a minimalist box; it rewards people who like a building with a past and a room with a view over water. An Art Nouveau palace on Strandvägen since 1911, Hotel Diplomat is the founding property of the family-owned Diplomat Collection, with 130 rooms overlooking Nybroviken or a quiet courtyard. Pets stay for a deposit, and the water view is the one thing rivals on this street can't offer.

Hotel Diplomat is the founding property of the family-owned Diplomat Collection, which also includes Villa Dagmar and Villa Dahlia, and it maintains its own curated art collection displayed throughout the public spaces. Condé Nast Traveler readers named it one of the best hotels of 2025 in the Rest of Europe category.
