The Twenty Two operates as hotel, restaurant, and members club all at once, which means the lobby energy skews more insiders than tourists checking off landmarks. The building has good bones: Edwardian architecture with high ceilings and the kind of original details you can't fake. They've turned 78 rooms into what they're calling "dedicated to the art of lingering," which is hotel speak for not rushing you out the door. The 19 suites are where you want to be if you're staying longer than a night, with actual space to spread out and pretend you live here. Café Zaffri handles the restaurant side, and the bar draws that creative-curious crowd the hotel is chasing. The vibe reads more London import than typical New York hospitality, which makes sense given they have a Twenty Two in Mayfair too. Service leans five-star attentive without being stiff about it. The reality: This is Union Square, so you're steps from the farmer's market, the park, and enough subway lines to get you anywhere fast. The hotel doesn't have a gym (the building won't allow it), but they've partnered with BXR for guest access. No pool, no spa, just well-executed rooms in a prime location with that members club energy threading through everything. Best for the traveler who wants to feel like they've been let in on something, not just checked into somewhere.
