THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Villa Dubrovnik
Villa Dubrovnik sits on a cliff in the Sveti Jakov area, three kilometres from Dubrovnik's Old Town, with a hidden beach cut into the rock below and a clear view of Lokrum Island and the Old Town across the water. The 56-room property, spread across five floors, was reshaped by Studio Arthur Casas, whose interiors run from the Comfort Double up to the Superior King with sea view, while the suites carry names pulled from an old Dubrovnik dialect rather than a numbered grid. What sets it apart from other addresses along this coast is Villa Kolin Residence, a suite reached through a small pine forest with its own private pool, built for guests who want the hotel's setting without sharing it. The Villa Spa runs an indoor pool open until nine at night, a sauna, steam room and treatments using Sodashi products and local immortelle and carob, alongside a fitness area with scheduled yoga and pilates. Divers and snorkellers have direct access to the water from the private beach, and a Green Globe certification backs up the sustainability claims with something checkable. Staff speak English and German, and pets travel for a flat fee rather than a lecture. A traveller after nightlife inside the Old Town walls will find the three-kilometre distance a genuine inconvenience; someone after a cliffside retreat with a real pool, a real spa and rooms that don't look assembled from a catalogue will not. Dogs are welcome, children need an extra bed arranged in advance, and dinner at Giardino or Pjerin Restaurant closes the day the way the view opened it, looking straight across the water at Lokrum. Villa Dubrovnik combines a cliffside beach, an indoor spa pool and a hidden suite reachable only through a pine forest, three kilometres outside Dubrovnik's Old Town. It rewards travellers who want quiet and water over foot traffic to the city walls; those chasing Old Town nightlife should look elsewhere.

Guests can dine at Giardino Restaurant or Pjerin Restaurant, the hotel's two signature dining venues, complemented by Libero Bar and Galanto Bar for drinks with a view. The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Robert Račić, bringing a refined take on Mediterranean gastronomy to the cliffside setting above the Adriatic.
Air conditioning and central heating ensure that rooms maintain comfortable temperatures. Guests can enjoy the sea view from a balcony or terrace. Rooms have a double bed or a king-size bed. Extra beds can be requested. A safe, a minibar and a desk are also available. Guests will also find a tea/coffee station included among the standard features. A trouser press is provided for guests' convenience. A telephone, satellite television, a radio and WiFi (no extra charge) are provided as well. Slippers are included. A hairdryer and bathrobes are provided in the bathrooms, which include a shower and a bathtub. Cosmetic products and a selection of towels provide additional comfort in the bathrooms. Wheelchair-friendly rooms can be reserved. The hotel has non-smoking rooms.
The indoor and outdoor pools are ideal for exercise as well as relaxation. Guests can treat themselves to refreshing drinks at the poolside snack bar and a relaxing soak in the hot tub. A short break or an entire afternoon on the sun terrace, which features outdoor lounge chairs and umbrellas, is time well spent. For those who wish to stay active while on vacation, the hotel offers horseback riding. Water sports enthusiasts can enjoy snorkeling and diving. The hotel's location is particularly ideal for skiers. After an eventful day, guests can work out and recharge in the gym. Various wellness options are available at the hotel, including a spa, a sauna, a steam bath and massage treatments. Copyright GIATA 2004 - 2026.
