THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
BEAUSiTE Zermatt
The lift line for the Matterhorn Express is a short walk from BEAUSiTE Zermatt's door, and by dusk the same guests are usually in the spa, working through the sauna, steam room and a spa tub with the Matterhorn framed in the window. The hotel has stood in the center of Zermatt's car-free village since 1907, though its interiors were rebuilt in 2021 into something closer to a design hotel than a traditional alpine lodge, with bold contemporary rooms carrying a British-tailored edge inside a shell of six floors and 67 individually decorated rooms. What sets it apart from the other addresses along the same street is a hard number: judged by independent hoteliers and journalists, BEAUSiTE Zermatt moved from third place in 2025 to first place in the 2026/2027 NZZ Rating, Switzerland's most watched hotel ranking. Families get a playroom and family rooms built for extra beds, skiers get ski storage and passes sold at the desk, and small dogs under 5kg travel along for a 30 CHF fee, though anything bigger has to stay home. There's no parking on site, which matters less than it sounds since private cars stop in Täsch anyway and the hotel can arrange a pickup from the train station. Two restaurants, a bar and a buffet breakfast running from 7 to 11 suit people happy to eat where they sleep rather than hunt down a new address each night. Anyone wanting a hushed, minimal retreat should look elsewhere, since this is a hotel that leans into its own design statement, and the ground-floor energy reflects that. What lingers after checkout is the view from the spa deck, Matterhorn included, no filter required. Zermatt's car-free center wraps around this hotel that dates to 1907, its Matterhorn-view spa now the draw. It climbed from third to first place in Switzerland's most watched hotel ranking for 2026/2027, though dogs over 5kg and hushed, minimal rooms are not part of the deal.
