THE PINK NOTEBOOK VERDICT
Mont Cervin Palace
Morning at Mont Cervin Palace starts with coffee at a window that frames the rooftops of Zermatt and, further off, the lifts running toward the Matterhorn Express and the glacier paradise above the village. Zermatt is a car-free zone reachable only by train or shuttle from Täsch, and the hotel sits in the center of it: six floors, 150 rooms, a scale almost nothing else in this valley of small chalets attempts. Three restaurants, including Le Restaurant, a bar, and 24-hour room service cover the eating and drinking; an indoor pool, an outdoor pool, a spa tub, a sauna, a steam room, and a fitness center cover the rest of the day. A library and a mini-golf lawn fill the in-between hours, and a kids club with its own playroom and children's pool means parents traveling with a family get a real block of time to themselves. Winter adds ski storage, a ski school, ski passes, and a ski shuttle, handling the gear logistics before anyone reaches the piste. A business center, conference hall, and event facilities put it within reach of groups mixing meetings with a holiday, and multilingual staff and a concierge desk cover most requests between. Rooms range from a 194-square-foot single to a 797-square-foot family suite, each with a minibar, private bathroom, and bathrobe, though views vary by category. Pets are allowed for a fee, and a bank-transfer damage deposit is collected on arrival. Those after a small, quiet chalet stay should look elsewhere in the valley; those wanting the full run of a resort inside a car-free village will find nothing else built at this scale. Mont Cervin Palace is a rare Zermatt address built at full-resort scale: six floors, 150 rooms, three restaurants, two pools, and a kids club inside a car-free village of small chalets. Skip it for a quiet chalet weekend; book it for everything else.
